In order to minimize any inaccuracies and changes in the measurement, the roller diameter is large enough to reduce the effect of mechanical relaxation or bending of the tire itself. The special coating on the drum is designed to be very wear-resistant and provide good friction value in wet and dry conditions.
The drive roller runs at a low (known) speed using the gearbox and motor arrangement, and during the test, the maximum braking force is measured by applying the vehicle brake, which produces a reaction force on the motor itself. Then, the electric sensor with strain gauge measures the single induced force acting in the deceleration phase to calculate the single braking force of each wheel.
The vehicle is driven to the brake tester with its wheels in the center between the two larger main rollers. The brake tester uses a gravel surface design to ensure maximum tire protection and simulate common road surfaces. Once the vehicle details are entered, the wheel automatically opens and rotates at a specified and consistent speed. The operator then applies the vehicle's brakes, creating a force on the motor. The sensor measures the braking force of each wheel when the vehicle decelerates. During the machining process, the fluctuation is also measured to determine the safe balance of braking force between near and off side wheels to calculate the difference in the form of percentage.
